Codex Alera Series

The Codex Alera is a high fantasy series that’s military Roman inspired fueled by politics and elemental magic.

The author, Jim Butcher (also wrote Dresden Files), said a good novel could be written out of any idea, because what really mattered was the storytelling and not the big ideas. So someone challenged him to write a book about a crazy idea: the “lost Roman legion” and “Pokemon”, so Jim Butcher did, and that formed the basis of the Codex Alera series.
